WHAT IS ALPHA?
Alpha is a series of group conversations that explore the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly environment. It’s a place to connect with people, where you can say anything you like or nothing at all. Everyone’s welcome. You’re invited, no matter your background or beliefs.
Alpha consists of three elements: a meal, a talk, and a discussion. Alpha is designed to create community and create relationships on top of intellectual engagement.

When does Alpha Young Adults 2024 start? We will begin on October 2 through December 11, meeting every Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. in St. Michael’s parish hall.
Can I attend if I haven’t registered yet? Registration in advance is required. This event does fill up and often has a waitlist. We do our best to accommodate all interested in attending.
If I come to the first night, is there any obligation to come back? No, this is a non-committal social event. We would be sad to not see you again though!
Alpha is already underway and I want to join the course, can I? Contact us at alpha@stmichaelportland.org. We typically recommend that participants join at least one of the first three nights, as after that, the nights start to build on each other.
What do I need to bring to Alpha? Yourself! We will provide a pen and a notebook. Also bring an open mind, and a willingness to engage in conversation.

One of the key ingredients of the Alpha course is the weekend of the Holy Spirit. It's a time away to relax, connect with others and connect with God.
